Keep up the Great Work and Spirit!!!! Yet another mind boggling seminar at IIPM, New Delhi by Sir Geoffrey Owen from London School of Economics. Such an extravagant affair arranged by Indian Institute of Planning and Management, New Delhi left Prof. Geoffrey Owen's mesmerising knowledge and experiences on everybody present there at the seminar. I thank IIPM for making me a part of this great event and i do look upon them for many such events like this in future. Somewhere, sometime back i read about this depressig news about IIPM but when i happened to visit there stunning campus all my doubts about the whole picture got cleared and was happy to learn about their success and achievements. Coming to their seminar by Sir Geoffrey Owen who is one of the world's best strategic thinker and had so much to share with us. Sir Geoffrey Owen spoke on the current topic of " The impact of globalisation on the structure and location of industries, and the strategy and organisation of firms – the view from developed countries and from emerging markets ". He spoke on the new and current wave of globalizaton and how it was, before globalization took place. The new global economy brought many things with it like Increase in exports of goods, Increase in capital flows from developed to developing countries-via FDI and portfolio investment, Reduction in communication costs through advances in information technology etc. He spoke on the changes in the structure and location of industries, the response of firms in advanced industrial countries, the response of firms in developing countries and the outlook for global business. At the end of it, we all came out with a different perspective and broader outlook.
It is a very challenging job on IIPM's part where they have created a huge platform for the indian executives and their students where they get to interact with the IVY League faculties and also faculties from the top european institutes. This platform enables both sides to come face to face and share their knowledge and experiences which benefits them in their career growth. IIPM has had Professors like Dr. Philip Kotler (Kellogg), Prof. Gita Gopinath (Chicago GSB), Dr. Rajeev Kohli (Columbia GSB), Prof. Bharat Anand (Harvard Business School), Prof. Akash Deep (Harvard University), Dr. Leigh Hafrey (MIT Sloan), Dr. Sunil Gupta (Columbia GSB), Prof. Ravi Dhar (Yale) and the list is endless it seems.
I believe that these international inputs, relevantly altered for the Indian audience, should surely create an excellent knowledge forum for Indian CEOs and top management personnel.
Thanks to such an initiative taken by IIPM !!!!!! All the best for future.....
